On the 9th of March 2023, the ECtHR decided on the case H.A. against Italy no. 26049/18. The case concerned a Tunisian national who was detained in the Lampedusa hotspot and was transferred from Ventimiglia to the Taranto hotspot before his removal to Tunisia. The applicant claimed that Italy breached the ECHR due to the poor conditions he suffered and his deprivation of liberty in the Lampedusa hotspot and during the transfer to Taranto. The ECtHR declared the case inadmissible as it was lodged more than six months after the occurrences.
