On the 2nd of January 2023, the Italian government published a new decree, no. 1 of 2023 on urgent provisions for the management of migratory flows. This decree states that the assigned port for SAR organisation must be reached without delay for the completion of their rescue operation (Article 1 2(bis) (d)). These organisations may thus be required to ignore any other emergencies at sea.
